The stars in the sky Look down where He lay

Baby Jesus

I was about 12 at the time. It was a few days before Christmas, I was visiting the church where they had a crib. I was worried about the Baby Jesus.  I couldn’t believe it was out there, naked, out in the front. We had loads of clothes, and the Baby Jesus had none. So I decided to bring the Baby Jesus home, because he had no clothes on him.

My mam said, “My God, what did you do?” We wrapped it in a blanket and put it back up in North Brunswick Church:  my mother gave me a little shawl and then I had to go around and put the Baby Jesus back.

The embarrassment to have to go back around…

Lucky enough, no one was looking. We only lived up around the corner in Niall Street so I only had to cut around by the school and by the church. And Baby Jesus looked warm in his blanket.
